In 2025 I campaigned for the office of US Congress for Arkansas District 3, for the election of November 2026. I felt that I was qualified for this job and that I would be a good Representative for the people of Northwest Arkansas. I ran as a Democrat.
Unfortunately, another Democrat, Robb Ryerse, decided to enter the race. He was a life-long Republican, and had previously run in this race as a Republican. But he switched parties after his 2018 Primary Election loss to Steve Womack.
During the Pre-Primary part of this race, prior to the official Party filing with the State of Arkansas in early November 2025, Mr. Ryerse and I were treated as two potential candidates. Neither candidate was officially recognized or assisted by either the State Democratic Party nor any of the County or other Democratic Party affiliates. Fundraising and campaign building are difficult under these situations.
I made the decision during the filing period to drop out of the race. I had personally lost too much money. Although I thought I could win in the Primary I believed it was no longer realistic to think victory in the General election was possible. Too much time and momentum had already been lost. I decided to drop out of the race. This would allow Mr. Ryerse to run as "the" Democratic candidate without having to expend resources in the Primary.
Someday I may consider running again for this race, or something else, if I'm properly encouraged. I remain a member of the Democratic Party.
